Conservative commentator and former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly will be indefinitely stepping away from media obligations as he manages an undisclosed health issue.

In a Jan. 23 blog post update on his website, the 76-year-old said he is “okay and recovering from some stomach stuff,” after receiving treatment at an unknown medical facility.

“Amazing good wishes have arrived here in New York City, and it’s hard to describe my gratitude,” he wrote. “I am planning a jail break out of the medical facility where there are more than a few Concierge Members. That’s major.”

The update comes after O’Reilly initially announced he was battling a “malady,” defined as a disease or ailment, without specifying the exact nature of his illness.

“Hey No Spin Nation. Sorry I am dealing with a malady,” O’Reilly wrote on Jan. 20. “We have great doctors so we’ll fight the good fight. Doesn’t affect my fingers so will update you on me, news cycle, and anything major.”

“Hopefully, back in the saddle shortly,” he concluded.

As a result, O’Reilly paused recordings of his “No Spin News” podcast, a daily news commentary show, but is gradually working on a broadcast return in the near future.

“Working on the first broadcast back because there’s nothing else to do here except watch hysterical local TV news coverage about snow generated by global warming,” he wrote.

The Epoch Times reached out to representatives for O’Reilly for further comment on the matter and did not hear back by the time of publication.

Best known for hosting “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News from 1996 to 2017, the former anchor was ousted from the network following a number of sexual harassment allegations.

“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” the company said in a statement at the time.

O’Reilly said he was “unfairly targeted,” with his lawyer alleging that the longtime analyst was “subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination that is unprecedented in post-McCarthyist America.”
